B. I. Member Number BI-1105

Hello and welcome to Proffers’ Kennel. Congratulations on your choice of Boerboel sites as Randy is one of the initial 3 Boerboel Breeders in the United States. With over 10 years experience and breeding stock originally hand selected by Randy during two separate visits to South Africa, Randy has been told by International Appraisers that his kennels are outstanding and are in fact, one of the finest in the world. Throughout the years, Proffers’ Kennel has repeatedly produced some of the finest and highest scoring Boerboels in the world; including two of the this years highest scoring females Proffers’ Diamond owned by Copperhead Kennel and Proffers’ Black Star. We are equally proud to announce K-Hubs, Mack; one of the top scoring males this year. K-Hub produced Mack from Proffer’s Dharma owned by K-Hub and Proffers’ Murphy owned by Proffer. This proved to be an excellent choice of breeding by K-Hub. Mack is owned by Copperhead Kennel.

As you go through the many pages on our site, you will notice Randy makes his home phone number available repeatedly to ANYONE whether it be to inquire about a puppy, to research the breed, for information regarding Boerboel International, or any other Boerboel related issue. Randy much prefers personal conversation verses the impersonal communication of email. So we encourage you to feel free to call:

UPDATE MARCH 2010

As some might know, in February of 2009 Randy was diagnosed with Stage IV Non-Hodgkin's Lymphoma.  In the year preceding his diagnosis and as his health was rapidly deteriorating Randy was simply unable to work his breeding program and eventually became so ill that he was admitted through the ER where he was found to be in complete kidney failure, 4 pints low on blood and a wide variety of other complications all of which led to a 33 day stay in the hospital.  After completing his sixth round of very aggressive chemotherapy in June of last year he is in total remission of which we are so very thankful.  However; as a result of being "healthy" again, feeling good and enjoying life, Randy was in a terrible "horse-wreck" in August that resulted in a whopping 26 broken bones and a steel collarbone replacement!

( Please click on the link at the bottom of this page to view a magazine article that was done on Randy's truly remarkable story)

With that said, you can imagine the effect the past couple of years has had on Randy's kennel.  While his sons and myself worked hard to make certain the dogs were taken care of and the kennels kept in pristine condition (something that even from his hospital bed Randy asked about daily) I think it would be safe to say we're ALL glad Randy is fully recovered!!!  Regardless, with everything all of us did to make certain he didn't have to worry about his dogs, Randy was the essential and missing part of what makes Proffers' Kennel the success it is known for.

Now with that terrible two-year period behind us, Randy is healthier than he has been in years.  He went from being weak, unable to eat and weighing a mere 152 pounds to now eating like a horse, working in construction and weighing a healthy and muscled 204!  He is equally determined to get his breeding program back to where it once was and as most who know Randy might guess, that means a third trip to South Africa where he will once again personally select new bloodlines to introduce into Proffers' Kennel.  While he has not yet made any specific arrangements, he was considering a late Fall 2010 trip however; it appears that BI will be making it's USA Appraisal Tour sometime is Sept/Oct. so it looks like the trip to South Africa will be in the Spring of 2011.

I tease Randy alot because whether he is roofing a house, building our lovely multi-tiered deck or breeding dogs, he always remarks that it's "top-of-the-line" and with that being the true spirit behind his kennel you can rest assured that with Randy "Quality most certainly does come first!"

So, grab a cup of coffee, sit back and enjoy the “tour”. It is our sincere hope that when you have finished reading all the information we have provided, you will agree Randy’s vast knowledge and many years of experience truly makes Proffers’ Kennel the kennel

Where Quality Comes First.”
